For the shopping fanatic, Southbank Markets are a must. Located right in the heart of Brisbane’s premier recreational and cultural centre, this atmospheric attraction is open every Friday night, Saturday and Sunday and is a perfect place to find that special gift. Packed with clothing, arts, crafts, and a huge array of international cuisine, strolling around Southbank is a great way to spend a few hours! Close by is New Farm, a cosmopolitan centre lined with cafés and restaurants with a vibrant live music scene. And round the corner for the night-owl, is an area known as ‘The Valley’ but will leave that up to you to explore! For nature-lovers and those looking for that cheeky day trip out and about, then a journey to Stradbroke Island or Morten Island is something you simply have to do. North ‘Straddie’ is only 35km east of Brisbane and is only $10 return for a passanger fare. Try fishing, snorkeling or surfing and even the thrill of whale watching (during the Autumn months). Your Morten Island adventure will cost around $45 for a return trip and will reward you with some spectacular sights. Bushwalking here is a highlight with miles of sandy beach, coastal heath and rocky headlands to explore.
