| Gear Up – The Silly Season is on the way! |
| That’s right, hold on tight folks… it’s edging closer and closer to what is loosely referred to as ‘The Silly Season”. It’s that time of the year, from around the end of November till February when Christmas parties run wild, family get-togethers become just as common as walking the dog, and late nights-out take over the early morning exercise routine. It’s that time of year when we all celebrate our annual achievements, the working week slacks off a bit, and things begin to get silly, really silly. So what do you do about it? Hide under the covers and not be silly? Run away to a remote beach and escape it all? No, no way – you join in! I mean that’s the whole point isn’t it? So now, where do you go and what do you do? Well as far as we are concerned, the best locations to take full advantage of such ludicrous times are of course the capital cities of this amazing country. From the east coast to the west coast, this is where the fun really kicks off. Take Perth for example, the capital of Western Australia. Every weekend during the summer months the beaches are packed; from Scarborough to Cottesloe, the crisp, golden sand is the place to be. For cold ales and that well-deserved sparkling glass of bubbly, head to the famed Cottesloe Hotel right across from the glistening shores of the west, gaze out over the horizon as the sun melts into the ocean and reminisce on a sensational past 12 months. In Melbourne we would suggest the region around St Kilda as a pretty safe bet for a good test of the old dancing shoes… and if you do get lucky, the St Kilda sands is not a bad choice for a romantic stroll by moonlight. As we all know one major event of The Silly Season is of course New Years Eve, so by all means make your way to any Aussie capital city and you will not be disappointed. In Brisbane, the banks of the river come alive with entertainment till the sun comes up; and for Sydneysiders, well all you have to do is look up at the sky to be blown away by arguably the best fireworks this country has to offer… And for the best vantage point, Sydney harbour is your pick. So don’t just sit around during this Silly Season, get out there and see some of Australia. Take a weekend escape or mid-week stopover now the weather’s becoming warmer and you’ll be pleasantly surprised – there’s so much out there in this incredible country, you’d be crazy to miss it!
